The exam in detail

Same architecture as telc B1 with harder tasks: written part 225 points (Leseverstehen 75, Sprachbausteine 30, Hörverstehen 75, Schriftlicher Ausdruck 45), oral part 75, total 300; pass with at least 60 % in the written part AND 60 % in the oral part; same grade bands (180 ausreichend, 210 befriedigend, 240 gut, 270 sehr gut).
Leseverstehen + Sprachbausteine: 90 minutes; Leseverstehen 3 Teile, 20 items (headline matching, detailed multiple choice on a longer text, matching situations to ads); Sprachbausteine 2 Teile, 20 items (10 multiple-choice gaps, 10 gaps from a 15-word bank) testing B2 grammar such as Konjunktiv II, Passiv, Partizipialattribute, two-part connectors, verbs with prepositions, nominal style.
Hörverstehen: about 20 minutes, 3 Teile, 20 items (global, detailed, selective listening; longer interviews or reports, most played once).
Schriftlicher Ausdruck: 30 minutes, 45 points: choose ONE of two tasks (A or B) and write a formal or semi-formal letter/e-mail (complaint, application, request, statement) on given points; aim for roughly 150 words or more; criteria I content/task, II communicative design, III formal correctness, 15 points each.
Mündlicher Ausdruck: about 15 minutes for two candidates after 20 minutes preparation, 3 Teile: Teil 1 Präsentation (each candidate presents a topic for about 1.5 minutes, the partner asks questions), Teil 2 Diskussion (discuss a statement or text with arguments and counter-arguments), Teil 3 Problemlösung (plan or decide something together).
